Chris Broussard, On ESPN, Said That Being Gay (And Having Premarital, Heterosexual Sex) Is “An Open Rebellion To God

Today's big sports news was not the New York Jets releasing Tim Tebow, despite what ESPN's early morning coverage suggested. It was that NBA veteran Jason Collins came out of the closet as the first active gay player in a major American sports. ESPN smartened up in the afternoon, though, airing a special edition of Outside the Lines. They brought on Chris Broussard, for some reason, and he made himself look really dumb. Lots of people are saying this will end his journalistic career, though that may be overstating things.

Personally, I don't believe that you can live an openly homosexual lifestlye, or like, premarital sex between heterosexuals… it says that that's a sin… I believe that's walking in open rebellion to God and to Jesus Christ. So, I would not characterize that person as a Christian, because I don't think the Bible would characterize that person as a Christian.

Obviously, Chris Broussard can say whatever he wants about gay people, because Freedom of Speech! But we can also say whatever we want about Chris Broussard. That's the beauty of it. We can even say this.

We can also link you to that one time he didn't know how to spell the word, "Memphis." As long as you don't have premarital sex, or gay sex at all, you don't need to pass the third grade to get on TV.

Ken Fang For those of you wondering, I have the NHL on NBC announcing assignments through Sunday. I will post them on Fang's Bites shortly.

Marc Stein Posted to @TrueHoop: Quickie survey, covering half of the league, on what Jason Collins' NBA future looks like: http://t.co/QbPt4P72Kp

Rich Eisen Very much so, yes RT @BGoren23: @richeisen I stopped after the third episode. Do i need to go back and watch?

Henry Abbott Doesn't make economic sense for NBA to leave Seattle empty-handed for long. Gut feeling is league will sour on some market or another.

Winnipeg Jets Grades: Defence/Goaltending

The following content has been paraphrased from Saturday's Illegal Curve Hockey Show, where we graded the 2013 performance of individual Winnipeg Jets' players. Download the podcast here or subscribe to the Illegal Curve Hockey Show on iTunes.

Richard: I thought he was solid when he played, but not great. Offensively he flourished at the beginning of the year leading the defensemen in points early on. The reason he gets a B is because his defensive game is lacking. I don't think he has played well enough as a defender to merit anything above a B.

Richard: I have high expectations for Dustin Byfuglien and I think he let his weight get away from him. Everything he does on the offensive side, he gives it back on the defensive side. That was consistent throughout the year. He's capable of more, the talent and natural ability are there but lacks the focus to play defensively.

Ezra (B): He didn't produce as many points as last season and his defensive play really struggled toward the end of the season. Byfuglien is a highly skilled player who needs to show more commitment to the team.

Richard: He played a majority of the season with Bogosian, some of the credit of Bogosian's year has to go to his partner Ron Hainsey. Does he score? No. But in reality he's not asked to score. Some decision making isn't the strongest and he's not the most physical. He played more minutes than they wanted to and filled a role.

Ezra – He lead the league in blocked shots, played a shutdown role and is more offensive minded than the type of defensemen he is.

Richard: He really took some steps forward this year, plays big minutes in all situations. He's a horse; he likes to pressure, likes to drop the gloves and took more of a leadership role. His offensive game took some steps forward in terms of getting involved in the play.

Ezra: Took a step forward, is part of the long term future of the Winnipeg Jets. He has great skating ability, got more physical this year.

Richard: He exceeded my expectations, produced offensively. Played in all situations. He seemed to flourish near the end. There were some defensive deficiencies. His issues are size and sometimes he turns the puck over. He can skate and has a good shot. He is a useful player and it will be interesting to see the contract he signs for next season.

Ezra: Stepped up and played increased minutes this season. He's not the biggest guy but is strong. Sometimes makes costly turnovers in the defensive zone. Is better suited as a third pairing guy.

Richard: He is what he is. He's a third pairing defensemen. He played with everyone on the team. You want him to play a physical style and be a leader. Wasn't his best defensive year. What you got from him is what you expected. No complaints here.

Ezra: He only had four points, you'd like to see more, but he was +5 and was among league leaders in hits. Has limited offensive ability but makes the smart decision with the puck in his own zone.

Richard: I would have liked to see more offensively, there was some opportunity with the injuries. His strength is his offensive play. He certainly made some problems defensively and turning over the puck. Settled down as the season went on. He is what he is, will top out as a bottom pairing.

Ezra: He's a good skater but isn't physical. Makes mistakes in his own end. Could have provided a bit more offensively.

Richard: My expectations for him were higher than Postma based on what we had heard from the IceCaps organization. He didn't blow me away but was solid. He does have a few drawbacks, but was a nice surprise for the Jets in terms of defensive depth.

Richard: I think he's a starter but not an exceptional NHL goaltender. He's probably around the 20th ranked goalie in the league right now. Put him behind better defensemen and his numbers may be higher. He was solid this year and deserves a B.

Ezra (A) – He faced the 2nd most shots in the NHL to Ryan Miller. Said in his exit interviews that he has to improve his conditioning. He proved that he has the mental toughness to be a number one goalie. Had a better year than last year and wants to get better.

Richard: He started five games. He hardly played and was solid when he did play. Hard to make a definitive decision.

Match Report: Cardiff City 1 Bolton Wanderers 1

There was a big match in Wales today, a coronation for one side, and a possible step towards redemption for the other.

Bolton presented an honor guard for the club from Wales before this match, and the home side had put posters up around the ground welcoming Wanderers supporters and wishing them luck in the promotion battle. It was class all around from the two sides. Until kickoff anyway. After kickoff the class was not spread around as evenly. Most of it was displayed by Cardiff City.

Adam Bogdan had an eventful day in goal, and it started less than a minute after kick off. Craig Conway set up Jordon Mutch at the edge of the six yard box, and it looked very much like Bolton were about to be down a goal. But Bogdan dove low and to his right, making an outstanding save.

This was a sign of things to come. Cardiff were bossing possession, creating chances, and generally looking like the champions that they are. Bolton were pinned back for large stretches. Marvin Sordell, chosen by Dougie Freedman to start as a lone striker, was isolated and ineffective. Then Sam Ricketts found a little space on the right side. He kept going, nearly lost the ball for a goal kick, but eventually managed to get past his man. He went straight into the box, putting pressure on the defense, and then the pass. It was a neat little ball to a late breaking Chris Eagles, who put it away to give Bolton the lead very much against the run of play.

After the goal Cardiff continued to look the better side, although Bolton's defending was fairly strong. About 15 minutes after scoring, the away side should have doubled their lead. A Trotters clearance fell to Eagles in loads of space on the left side. He broke at pace, running a good 50 yards and catching the home side upfield. A good looking cross came in towards Sordell, who either played an excellent dummy, or an even better flick on. Either way, the ball fell at the feat of a breaking Pratley, who hit a solid shot towards goal. Some on Twitter thought the shot was weak. Others thought the keeper made a brilliant save. Either way, the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

The second half was more of the same. Cardiff dominated, and Bolton supporters spent just as much time checking other scores as watching their own match. 20 minutes in, Cardiff brought Tommy Smith and Craig Noone off the bench. The latter proved to be a threat almost immediately. He made a great run on the right and teed up Smith. The goal was gaping and he went for the tap in. Miraculously, Bogdan bounded across the goalmouth and made a shocking save. He looked like a candidate for Man of the Match at this point.

That candidacy only lasted about three minutes. Cardiff were breaking towards goal yet again and Josh Vela gave away a free kick just outside of the box. Noone stepped up and put it in the bottom corner. It was a decent enough free kick, but most would have expected Bogdan to save it.

Bolton introduced Craig Davies for Sordell, and he had one good chance, on a turn from about 15 yards. Unfortunately, it was a bit wide. Bolton's best chance to equalize was when Cardiff's central defender played a very slow back pass, and Pratley pounced. Alas, the keeper was well aware, and managed to barely clear it for a throw.

Stu Holden was given a few minutes (literally) in his return to action, but was not able to have any effect. Cardiff were ready to collect their trophy. On the bright side for Bolton, other results went Wanderers' way, and the club still control their own destiny going into the final weekend. Beat Blackpool at home, and the Trotters are in the playoffs.

5 German Soccer Stars to Help Keep an Eye Fixed On

Patrick Herrmann is an attacking midfielder who presently plays for Borussia Monchengladbach. While Marco Reus was a Monchengladbach person, Herrmann was his backup. However, because Reus left for Borussia Dortmund, Herrmann has turned into a important person for Lucien Favre's group. The young German is damaging on the wing and is excellent one-on-one. He's most of the ability to be the next German celebrity for Joachim Low. Nevertheless, Herrmann faces stiff opposition to even enter into the national team. Low again has a great many other alternatives. For today, Herrmann has to be content playing for the German Under-21 group, that will be going to Israel come july 1st for the UEFA U-21 title.

Golden State Warriors vs. Colorado Nuggets: Postgame Grades and Investigation

Klay Thompson hit his first jumper to even the score at 2-2, then adhering to a Denver Nuggets three, he answered with yet another to wrap it 5-5. Another Nuggets bucket was answered by him to tie the overall game at 7-7, and his 3-of-3 shooting set the tone for what as a backcourt the Warriors were likely to do. Thompson is just in his second period, however the Warriors felt as a novice to deal Monta Ellis confident enough about his prospects. The Warriors received Andrew Bogut, who has been injured plenty since joining the team, but the fact that the team thought Thompson might handle full-time starter jobs by the conclusion of his rookie season shows their tremendous confidence in Thompson. He concluded with 21 items on an ultra-efficient 8-of-11 shooting (including 5-of-6 from three-point range). The fact that Thompson was able to have such a great night against Andre Iguodala and Evan Fournier is impressive, particularly given the fact that Iggy has been defending on an All-NBA level for some time now. Thompson was able to exploit the natural pace of the game and find pictures in transition, and Iguodala's man-to-man defense was an average of fairly sound. There is just too many locations for a guy with a release as rapid as Thompson's to exploit. Thompson: A Iguodala finished with 18 items to Thompson's 21, and the Nuggets were only negative-10 for Iggy's time on the court, which can be not bad set alongside the other Nuggets beginners (Lawson was negative-24). Inevitably, Iggy is likely to be measured by his defensive effect, and it is difficult to say he made much of a dent in the Warriors' 131-point start. With a flurry of the points coming from Thompson and Barnes on the wing, Denver's perimeter defense can not feel particularly great at as soon as. Still, Iguodala scored efficiently (6-11 from the subject) and kept a vital play-maker with 7 helps. Iguodala: B +

Can This Brazil Team Win the 2014 World Cup?

With a World Cup victory already under his belt, he is more resistant to the enormous pressure than many managers would be.

He is still tinkering with his side, struggling to recreate the beauty and efficiency of his 2002 team. The forthcoming Confederations Cup will be an opportunity for Scolari to test his side in a competitive environment.

History suggests Scolari knows how to assemble a Brazil team capable of going all the way to glory. It's clear he has a vast array of talent at his disposal, and the roar of the home crowd should provide the players with all the motivation and inspiration they require.

The greatest danger to Brazil is the threat of Spain. La Roja have been remarkably consistent in international tournaments of late, and they'll be desperate to retain the World Cup.

However, on home soil, Brazil have to be favourites to reclaim the prize they crave most of all. Football is heading home.

Is it time to begin Stu Holden?

Throughout the Cardiff City match last week-end, Bolton Wanderers went an objective facing the work of play. John Ricketts' flooding come across the field accompanied by an effectively squared basketball found Chris Eagles crashing in at pace. The winger's purpose was precisely what Bolton needed. Unfortunately, the one goal was not enough for the Trotters to seal three points as Craig Noone's free end could decide the match at one point and one goal apiece. At the beginning of your day, a point at the Champions was a great effect for only about every Bolton Wanderers lover. However, because the game progressed, Bolton Wanderers had several chance to take a two goal lead and ultimately win the match. Cardiff City had these chances as well and had it not been for Adam Bogdan's heroics, the story would have been much different. Bolton's two best likelihood of the fit, aside from Chris Eagles' target, came from Darren Pratley. One came on the half hour mark, another came 5 minutes from time. Both had the chance to give two goals to Bolton on the afternoon and both were stopped by Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall. The first was caused by Chris Eagles deteriorating the left side and playing a cross into the field for Darren Pratley. The ball was behind Marvin Sordell and found Pratley in the middle of the location. The possibility, a good one, was stopped low by the goalkeeper. The second occurred right at the death as an unhealthy backpass from Ben Turner allowed Darren Pratley to try to run onto the ball with nothing but the goalkeeper between him and the back of the net. Pratley did well to attain the ball but unfortuitously couldn't do much with it as Marshall came piling in. A person with increased pace probably could have done better however it was a good little bit of hustle from Darren Pratley. Darren Pratley wasn't a fan favorite for a lot of last season and was usually derided for his insufficient technical ability. While that second aspect remains quite definitely the same, the midfielder's work rate has gained lots of the fans over. His tireless efforts and determination to run himself into the ground has noticed Pratley become a favorite at the Reebok. Unfortunately, what Darren Pratley offers in effort, he frequently lacks in power with the ball at his feet. It was probably that insufficient technical poise that saw these two chances against Cardiff spurned. Enter Stu Holden. The American main midfielder was recalled (a few days) early from his Sheffield Wednesday loan to greatly help Bolton handle the season-ending accidents to Keith Andrews and Jay Spearing. In his first game back a Wanderers clothing, Stu was on the seat for Bolton. He came on instead in second half added time, that has been about 20 minutes too late to produce any type of influence. In his time at Bolton Wanderers, Stu became known for all of the things that the fans love about Darren Pratley but with the additional technical capacity that Pratley lacks. Stu may learn how to place a good shot on target, perform important travels, and run himself ragged, confidently get into fights. There are still conditioning problems surrounding Stu. In the end, he was out for over two years with damage. Upon his get back, Stu enjoyed moderately, picking right up replacement minutes there and here prior to going 67 minutes against Peterborough. Wednesday several more activities on the table and Holden was down to Sheffield. With the Owls, Stu maintained four games in the stretch of a month, including two games in the room of four days. Holden began all four activities, going a total of 250 minutes (on average 62.5 minutes per game). While we all know that Holden is a lot more than ready, the issue is in what Dougie Freedman want to do. With a game title as massive as Blackpool beingshown to people there, would the manager actually want to make this kind of drastic change in midfield? Darren Pratley has turn into a standard in the second half of this season and it's probably fair to say that he has earned his place on in the staff. Yet, if Stu Holden, Keith Andrews, and Josh Vela had been fit, would Pratley have been given as large an opportunity as he's had? Everybody talks about story endings and how excellent they are. Will we see one this week-end with Stuart Holden driving Bolton to the playoffs? It's as much as Dougie.

How former football 'greats' save your self face in the aftermath of what Federer and Nadal did.

Sampras: Weak freaking competition. How many times do I've to say that? Geeezz!!!!! BOTH are on steroids - of another kind. You have wife as partner inside. Other his Uncle. There is no other way to describe obesity and full locks - respectively - specifically when the ratio is inverted in both cases. Besides, if I would have chose to performed longer I may have reached 17 - or more. And Federer moving me for some days @ No. 1 was fixed - by Agassi. Borg: There's WITHOUT doubt I would have approved 17 if @ age hadn't been stopped by me 26. Just look at my freaking record until then. Besides, these two haven't any shame. They are being overwhelmed by their arch rival right left and center and they STILL carry on. Where's the pride and self respect. Shouldn't there be at the very least a suicide attempt? Used to do that - many times, that you Never know of. Lendl: 11? Need I say more? 11+ 8 = 19. Duh!!!!!!!!! And I faced much tougher opposition - both on and off the court. McEnroe was after my entire life each time I was in the usa. And after my human body every time I was on court - elsewhere. And after my unborn son - everywhere else. Agassi: Heard about bungee jumping? That's freaking enough reason there. There's no way ANYBODY might have stopped me, basically hadn't wandered off. Late effective run closes the deal - beyond ANY doubt. These two can't even desire slamming a sitting' Hollywood 'A' actress OR an actor and a sagging one too - at the same time. They're boring without any interests, character or versatility. All they do is just play tennis. Everybody may do that - like some clown @ 14. Connors: Been aware of Borg and McEnroe? That is without calling other minute fiddles who have been GREATER than the main opposition these two clowns are ploughing through. I also had to waste energy pretending to be a tough man. Besides, I married a model and have also been caught - which not one of them can attain. And Sampras is right - they are both on steroids.

Everton 1 - Fulham 0: David Moyes' dream team - Express.co.uk

And yesterday, for what might prove his penultimate home match as manager, there was one. Sadly for him, it was not his side.

As five of Harry Catterick's heroes from 1963 were paraded on the pitch to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their league championship, it highlighted the difference between the past and the present.

Everton beat Fulham to clinch the title half a century ago. Courtesy of Steven Pienaar's well-worked goal, they defeated them yesterday. But now, when others have far more money, the only division they are likely to win is the Merseyside mini-league.

They will probably be stuck in sixth. While they inflicted some capital punishment on Fulham and while Tottenham's draw at Wigan allowed them to make up ground, unless they can overhaul Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs, they won't be in Europe next season. Moyes accepts they will probably have to win their three remaining games, away at Liverpool and Chelsea, plus West Ham at Goodison, if Everton are to need their passports next year.

"If we do get into Europe we will certainly have earned it," he said. Whether Moyes will be travelling to the continent with the side is another matter. His contract expires in the summer. His decision has been put on hold. "That will be made at the end of the season," he said.

It has already been a better season than last year, with Everton topping their points total from 12 months ago because of a memorable strike.

"A terrific footballing goal," said Moyes. "It was a nice intricate move." Kevin Mirallas and Leon Osman were both involved, combining cleverly, before Seamus Coleman picked out Pienaar, who coolly found the back of the Fulham net.

"That will do him the world of good," Moyes said. "I thought Steven knitted us together a little bit." The South African was alone in beating the busy Mark Schwarzer. The Australian goalkeeper blocked Marouane Fellaini's early header from Mirallas' header. Then, as Everton looked for a second goal in the final quarter of an hour, he denied Mirallas, after a show of flicks and tricks from the winger.

Finally, he prevented substitute Ross Barkley from opening his Everton account. Fellaini also missed an open goal after a wonderful cross from Leighton Baines and Moyes said: "We just couldn't get that second goal."

Fulham couldn't get a first. Only Kieran Richardson, with a cross-shot that Mladen Petric could not convert, and Urby Emanuelson, who blazed a shot over, even came close. Even before losing at Goodison Park as usual, Fulham lost their top scorer.

Dimitar Berbatov hobbled off after half an hour. Boss Martin Jol hopes his season is not over. "I think he has got a tear in his calf," he said.

Without their brilliant Bulgarian, Fulham's dismal record at Goodison Park got worse. While they won at Liverpool last season, this was their 20th consecutive league defeat on the other side of Stanley Park.

They have not taken a point away at Everton since 1959, when Jol was three years old - so the only manager with any celebrating to do was Moyes.

A fortnight old when Catterick's team won the old Division 1 in 1963, he turned 50 on Thursday. His party was postponed until after yesterday's game. "It will be a wild Scottish rave," he joked. "All Scottish food, all Scottish drink with no one English there at all."

MAN OF THE MATCH: SEAMUS COLEMAN - a dynamic figure on Everton's right, making a series of driving runs and setting up Pienaar's goal. A much-improved player.

EVERTON: Howard, Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Coleman, Osman, Pienaar, Fellaini, Jelavic (Barkley 67), Mirallas, Anichebe.

FULHAM: Schwarzer, Senderos, Hangeland, Richardson (Duff 56), Manolev, Karagounis (Rodallega 77), Kacaniklic, Emanuelson, Enoh, Berbatov (Petric 30), Ruiz.

He generally demonstrates the ability to make plays far from his human anatomy effortlessly. Also,ErtzApossesses powerful arms by pulling the ball down in traffic. However, when seeing the tape, I can't help but notice the occasional easy fall. Ertz sets out for a big third down reception, presenting strong hands. Pursue Find Although he excels prior to the catch, ZachAErtzAis not much of a risk with the ball in his hands. Lacking exemplary speed and elusiveness, he is unlikely to harm defenses in this regard. ErtzAmay not be particularly dynamic following the catch, but he does run with good balance, preventing for extra yardage and refusing to drop easily. Preventing Seeing ZachAErtzAplay, he seems far more in his aspect as a recipient as opposed to a blocker. He struggles to put on blocks and frequently seems actually outmatched. Generally speaking I've several gripes together with his work, but he leaves much to be desired being an in-line blocker. In addition, he doesn't perform a great job of finding blocks in space. To develop right into a total NFL tight end,AErtzAmust continue to pay attention to refining his technique. Ertz is found lunging here, lacking a vital block on third and short. Potential Role/Scheme Usefulness ErtzAis somewhat one-dimensional. He is a good, reliable phone but ought to be accompanied by way of a blocking TE at the following level. In ways he reminds me of the Ravensa Dennis Pitta. Don't be astonished if he comes beyond most assume on draft day; he may not function as the complete limited end groups look for in the initial two rounds. Manchester City's Premier League trophy world tour is huge success - Manchester Evening News

The club has announced that the famous silver trophy has visited 16 countries during City's reign as champions – and helped to raise more than £45,000 for charity.

It's been on a long journey since being hoisted into the air in celebration by jubilant Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany almost 12 months ago.

The club has announced that the famous silver trophy has visited 16 countries during City's reign as champions – and helped to raise more than £45,000 for charity.

The Premier League Trophy Tour, which runs during every football season, aims to use the appeal of football for good.

The trophy won by City has visited 74 official supporters clubs worldwide, 67 schools and attended more than 600 events, the majority of them fundraisers.

It has been to every school that the City In The Community scheme works with in Greater Manchester, putting smiles on the faces of thousands of children – and parents and staff.

More than £45,000 has been raised so far for the project from voluntary donations given to view the trophy. And players have got on board – accompanying the silverware to a host of schools and sports sessions.

Sarah McBriar, project manager at Manchester City, said the club wanted to 'share the experience' of the trophy with the world.

She said: "It was really important to us to share the experience with supporters clubs all over the world and with our local community.

Success was ultimately for the fans, and we are delighted that the trophy was used to give back to the City In The Community foundation and the thousands of people who benefit from their work.

"We wish to thank everyone who has been a part of the trophy tour and the incredibly hard work put in by the supporter branches and school staff."

Kevin Parker, general secretary of Manchester City Football Club Supporters Club, said the tour raised valuable cash and helped to give supporters a glimpse of the life of a famous footballer.

He said: "It's a physical and emotional experience that fans don't normally get to experience and allows us to really feel part of the club."

City In The Community is City's award-winning community scheme.  Founded in 1986, the project has engaged with people from all areas of Manchester to support communities and launch health, coaching and education programmes.

Living the dream: Manchester United's Robin van Persie on "massive relief" of ... - Mirror.co.uk

"I've waited a very long time for this - it's what every professional dreams might happen one day. It's just an incredible feeling"

Robin van Persie has revealed his relief after finally winning the Premier League title in his first season with new club Manchester United.

The Dutch striker had just an FA Cup winner's medal to show for eight years in English football when he left Arsenal last summer, but has scored 24 league goals to help fire United to a record 20th championship.

And the 29-year-old, who returns to the Emirates on Sunday for the first time since his controversial transfer, admits the season has made his wishes come true.

"That's why I sacrificed so much to come here. I chased a dream and I'm so happy the dream has now been fulfilled. I still can't believe it, it's just an incredible feeling.

"It is also a massive relief after all this time to be lucky enough to win a title in one of the hardest leagues in the world."

He added: "My move to Manchester United was all about timing. We met each other at exactly the right time - they were so eager to win the Premier League title back, and I was so eager to win the title for the first time."

Van Persie - who also won the UEFA Cup with first club Feyenoord before joining the Gunners - is in the prime of his career and admits he is eager to fill up his trophy cabinet with the Old Trafford giants while he is at the top of his game.

"Next season I have the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Capital One Cup, Community Shield and, of course, the World Cup to focus on."

United have been linked with moves for a host of strikers this summer to supplement Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck.

But Van Persie does not see that as a threat to his place and believes a bigger squad can help him achieve his ambitions with the club.

Van Persie's signing raised eyebrows in the summer as it has been rare for Ferguson to spend big on players in their late-20s, but the Scot's assistant Mike Phelan has hailed the Holland hitman's impact this season.

"Robin has been a great addition to Manchester United Football Club," he told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

"You've got to want to win, you've got to want to develop even more than where you are at the moment and I think Robin has taken on another part of his game.

"He does study the game but so do other players and Robin has achieved something that he's tried to achieve for numerous years and we're pleased to have him with us."

"We knew he could score many goals, we knew he had the quality to entertain a crowd and there's no better crowd and no better stadium to do that in than Old Trafford.

"He had a spell during the season when he was a little bit barren but he kept going and we kept playing him and his quality has shown through."

Newcastle United Ready to Offload Ten In Mass St James' Park Exodus - caughtoffside

Magpies boss Alan Pardew could be ready to offload as many as ten players from his Newcastle United squad this summer according to the Sunday Mirror.

Argentine centre-back Fabricio Coloccini heads the list of potentially exit bound stars and is apparently one player Pardew will fight tooth and nail to keep hold of.

The 31 year old wants to return home but the St James' Park side are demanding a decent sum for their skipper as he still has two years left to run on his current contract. As yet San Lorenzo have come nowhere near the club's asking price and until they do it seems unlikely Newcastle United will sell.

Experienced keeper Steve Harper will not be offered a new contract when his current deal runs out this summer and full-back Danny Simpson is also set to leave on a free transfer.

Mike Williamson, Dan Gosling, Gabriel Obertan and youngsters Roman Amalfitano, Mehdi Abeid, Brad Inman and Conor Newton are all also reportedly likely to be made available for sale as Pardew looks to trim his expansive squad ahead of moves to bring in new summer signings.

To that end Pardew has placed Saint-Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the top of his summer shopping list, with the Gabon striker being seen as an ideal replacement for Demba Ba, who left for Chelsea in January.

Owner Mike Ashley bankrolled significant moves in the last two transfer windows, spending upwards of £25m on new additions, mainly purchased via Pardew's favourite port of call, namely Ligue 1.

Among other very crude/insightful things, Rob has a tendency to tweet at corporations, or major celebrities, usually to the effect of being ironic. A while back, Rob tweeted at this at Los Angeles Dodgers Twitter handle:

Brian Ross Program To Be Changed Into A Cemetery

The ancient New Rogell golf coursea'designed by the famous Donald Rossa'has been sold and the new owners intend to turn it right into a graveyard. The program originally was developed under the authority of Max Fisher for Detroitas Jewish community, who have been excluded from membership in other country groups. The original format for the very first nine holes was performed by Tom Bendelow. It opened in 1914 because the Phoenix Golf Club. Phoenix Golf Club was sold to the town of Redford in 1921, having never quite caught on as a Jewish club. It had been maybe not found close enough to the Detroit areaas Jewish communities. Redford employed Donald Ross to complete the layout and update the initial nine. The Redford Golf and Country Club lasted until 1945, when it was sold to the Town of Detroit. In 1979, the course was renamed the Rogell, after former Tigers ballplayer and town councillor Bill Rogell. Rogell, a shortstop had led the Tigers to a 1935 World Seriew win on the Chicago Cubs. As it suffered greatly from neglect, it was by all accounts not really a happy period for the program. When it had been obtained for $2.7 million by the mega-church Greater Grace Temple, a glimmer of hope for the Ross program appeared in 2007. Higher Grace put money into recovery and renamed it aNew Rogell.a The idea have been given up by the church, nevertheless and the Ross style seems headed for bulldozering. Might 31 the program is scheduled to close. It would be a real pity because of this to go. I wonder if thereas a means that it could possibly be given as a historical site to preserve it.

Philadelphia Phillies: 6 Most Disappointing Players in Spring Training so Far

With poor outfielding skills and not much luck with the bat, Ruf will likely start the season in Triple-AKim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

At 26 years old and in Double-A Reading, Ruf was not the typical prospect. In fact, it wasn't until he mashed 20 home runs in the month of July alone, leading to the eventual passing of Ryan Howard's Reading HR record, that Ruf appeared on the Phillies' radar.

He received a September call-up and the team took notice. Then he played winter league ball in Venezuela and recorded eight doubles and 10 home runs in 120 at-bats.

Now in the major league spring camp, the team found themselves so enamored with Ruf's raw potential that they attempted to convert him into a left fielder so that he could make the team. That did not go over so well (.85 FPCT, 1.38 range factor) and now it seems almost certain Ruf will being the season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Converting Ruf to a left fielder had a 50/50 shot of working so the fact that he has not yet been able to figure out the position is not disappointing.

What is disappointing however is that in the approximate same sample of at-bats in his major league debut season and the 2013 spring, that Ruf has failed to show the power and pop he was expected to produce.

Ruf has struggled with both the glove and bat this spring. He has gotten the chances to play everyday, but his bat has not stayed hot.

He has had a few notable games including on March 7 against Minnesota where he went 2-for-4, hit two doubles and recorded three RBI, but overall, Ruf's spring has been disappointing and certainly not the one he had hoped for being that he is competing for a major league job.

Lamkin ACE 3GEN Evaluation

How often do you change your grips?A If youare like the majority of golfers, itas not likely nearly as often as you should.A I start to see the same thing all the time; people playing groups with the grips worn down after numerous golf seasons.A The way grips degrade slowly over time makes golfers ignorant of just how poor they really are.A How much can new grips really help your game anyway? The pair of irons Iam playing went in the bag around June of last time. I played them for a few months before winter strike and these were introduced inside.A If the mail came that Iad be asked to do a review on the brand new line from Lamkin, my immediate reaction was that I didnat aneeda to re-grip my irons.A I thought perhaps Iad put the grips on my wedges or my driver, but neither are much older.A Immediately after opening the package I knew I had to put them on my irons straight away. Iam typically more prone to move toward a Crossline design grip, but for the purpose of this review Iad be installing the new Perma-Wrap ACE 3GEN from Lamkin.A Before I enter into my personal feelings in regards to the grip here is a synopsis from Lamkin: The newest Perma-Wrap ACE 3GEN hold is motivated by the progressive Higher level Cohesive Elastomer material. A special synthetic rubber compound, ACE was developed by Lamkin chemists to mix the performance benefits of 3GEN technology with an even smoother, tackier grip feel. The result is astounding! The amazing tackiness of Perma-Wrap ACE is highlighted by a minimal, simulated-wrap structure and a unique unbuffed area, which makes it among the tackiest grabs actually made. The increased surface tack of Perma-Wrap ACE 3GEN provides people with incredible griping security to promote the ideal tension-free move. I really didnat think I needed to re-grip my irons, but once these were mounted I couldnat believe how great they felt.A Everyone that Iave been around since installing them has received the same effect when holding the team for the very first time, as I explained. aOh wow, thatas nicea is some thing Iave observed over and over again.A The Perma-Wrap ACE 3GEN is really a hold targeted for a glove wasn't worn by players who, but is obviously not restricted to these players only. While I was testing this hold, a new set of irons also came my way for a review.A As I often do, some side was conducted by me by side testing with my very own iron set. I could not conquer just how much better this grip thought than the brand new grip on the new set of irons.A The tackiness of the ACE 3GEN offers such a grip that I kept getting the feeling of not getting a good hold on the other set of clubs. One thing that I really noticed after installing the grips is that I could grip the groups much lighter without having to be concerned about the team moving from my hands.A As all golfers have been informed, grip pressure and pressure need to be light to release our swing.A Prior to this review I never thought that a grip could have a hand in playing better golf, but seeing (or feeling in this case) is believing.A Despite having a relatively new set of irons I believe that installing the Lamkin ACE 3GEN has totally changed my set. Evaluating these grips has been limited by cooler temperatures since our tennis season only got started within the upper Midwest, so there are some questions yet to be answered on what well the grips endure in the heat and moisture of summer. If you stay tuned to the THP Forum I will definitely continue to update as the conditions rise.A At this time, I could say that Iam not really a bit concerned.A The cooler temperatures have given me an excellent look at another feature of the efficiency of these grips. The 3GEN engineering aids provide excellent shake dampening on top of the other benefits.A Playing a pair of people irons will often result in painful fingers when contact isnat really so flush in cool temperatures, but that's been kept to the absolute minimum with one of these grips installed. The Lamkin ACE 3GEN will come in Perma-Wrap and Crossline designs now for about $5 per grip.A Itas not to often that I believe a particular product is that much better than your competitors, but that's the case with your grips.A I recommend everybody requires a look at their hold, and unless theyare new this season, do yourself a favor and set a new group of ACE 3GEN on now. You are able to thank me later. Tags: Featured Category: Extras, Gear, Headlines & Media

Wimbledon 2013 ticket prices won’t increase despite prize money hike

The aspiring ticket purchasers for the Wimbledon Championships 2013 won't have to worry about the rise in ticket prices following the announcement by the All England Club that the prize money has risen by 40 percent, the biggest prize-money increase in the history of the sport.

All England Club Chairman Phil Brook said in an interview that their plans (prize money hike and additional retractable roof in Court 1) were "funded in a way that will not affect ordinary fans coming to Wimbledon."

The men's and women's singles titlists for this year's Wimbledon will receive 1.6 million pounds each, a hike of 39 percent from last year's. The early round losers will also benefit from the prize money hike with their payout rising by more than 60 percent from last year's.

"A lot of the increase is going toward players who lose in the early rounds or in our qualifying tournament," Brook said. "This is a large group of players, who are not particularly wealthy. They are players who are making their way onto the tour, and we think it's important to support that group."

NFL Draft 2013 Results: Largest Winners & Losers of the NFL Draft

Bjoern Werner (outside linebacker fromAFlorida State at No. 24) and Montori Hughes (defensive handle fromATennessee Martin at No. 139) are not full people, but both have a chance to do some damage is Chuck Pagano's safety. They will have enough lead and good teachers to learn from mistakes on the field. Hugh Thornton (offensive guard fromAIllinois at No. 86) and Khalid Holmes (middle from USC at No. 121) were both big reaches on my board, but were also top-ranked people when taking the zone-blocking scheme into account. While Bruce Arians favored a man/power-blocking method, Pep Hamilton went a lot of ZBS as the "Andrew Luck Director of Offense" at Stanford and is clearly taking that plan to the professionals. Late-round straight back Kerwynn Williams (Utah State at No. 230) meets the ZBS as well. My two favorite picks of the course, but, may be John Boyett (powerful safety from Oregon at No. 192) and Mr. Irrelevant herself, Justice Cunningham (tight end from Sc at No. 254 )a'both late rounders. Boyett was the Oregon Ducks' primary tackler in 2011 before a personal injury sidelined him in 2013. He has an opportunity to be considered a great in-the-box protection or a primary unique teamer. As for Mr. Irrelevant, he is already the very best blocking tight end on the Colts' list. It'd perhaps not be surprising to see an impact from every single member of this Colts draft school.

Did Djokovic win the battle (Monte Carlo) and (MAY possibly) lost the battle (Roland Garros)?

If you are this in front of the game (provided the scoreline @ Monte Carlo) AND your opponent is operating the false sense of security wave having ploughed through tomato cups at all preceding events, wouldn't it be much smarter to 'display' your cards at the very last time EVEN if that includes deliberately dropping at everything that precedes the big party to make sure the artificial persona remains unabated? Granted that could not be described as a prudent move under normal conditions given Nadal's record on clay but these aren't standard conditions? When WHATEVER you are looking at is ONLY as far as a stretch of land (clay) in a vast field of landscape (complete tour), the emergency sense has already been at a heightened state. When you mix up the Hornet's home for the reason that situation, you are GUARANTEEING your self the top resistance the opposition is capable of. Oh, what did you say? Nadal WILL dish his BEST regardless? Been aware of do or die? There is always a higher aspect in EVERY one no matter how good they are by themselves. Many EVERY one of the time that gear is engaged SOLELY under REALLY serious circumstances. AND there are different shades EVEN at that 'serious condition' stop. So IF Nadal is at that place, he could NEVERTHELESS be bumped up even greater - within that special stratosphere - causing a kind that even he is ignorant or even capable of - under 'other' circumstances. There are numerous times when such a vision seems to astonish not just the lovers nevertheless the perpetrator too. Need proof? Take to this: Nadal pushing a tie-break in the next set after being impressed in the very first @ Monte Carlo. It is the same principle - in form. Translation: Djokovic might have been more likely to gain Roland Garros by losing the battle( s) [Madrid, Rome] - on purpose? When what you would like lies under the lion's nose, being handy may trumph being actual. Besides, you have already produced this film once - in 2011 - when you won MOST of the battles (won Madrid and Rome over Nadal )Aand lost the war. Granted you lost to Federer and perhaps not Nadal but that is because you beat Federer @ Dubai and the AO that year. And for the purposes with this article that's the reason you didn't gain Jack before 2011 as you were beating on clowns BEFORE the Slams. Bottom line: STOP fighting at anything maybe not called Slams. Heck, even training under everything and closed doors else.

Wimbledon 2013 ticket costs wonat increase despite treasure money rise

The aspiring ticket buyers for the Wimbledon Championships 2013 wonat need to concern yourself with the increase in ticket prices following the statement by the All England Club that the prize money has risen by 40 percent, the greatest prize-money escalation in the history of the game. In a study by Bloomberg, a floor cross for the first week of competitions at Wimbledon 2013 is likely to be 20 pounds. All England Club Chairman Phil Brook said in an meeting that their plans (prize money hike and extra retractable roof in Court 1) were afunded in a way that will not affect regular fans visiting Wimbledon.a Pounds will be received 1.6 million by the menas and womenas singles titlists for this yearas Wimbledon each, a rise of 39 percent from last yearas. The early round losers may also benefit from the reward money rise making use of their payout rising by more than 60 percent from last yearas. aA lot of the increase is certainly going toward participants who lose in the first times or inside our qualifying tournament,a Brook said. aThis is just a large number of participants, who're not particularly affluent. They are participants who are making their way onto the trip, and we think itas very important to support that group.a The Wimbledon Championships 2013 begins in June 24.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew fighting to keep his job following ... - Telegraph.co.uk

Pardew on Saturday night insisted that he still believes he can save Newcastle from relegation, but admitted this was an "awful" performance. Furious home fans turned on both him and his team following a result which leaves them hovering alarmingly just two places above the Premier League relegation zone. It was the club's worst home defeat since 1925.

Pardew had demanded his players produce a performance to atone for their last match at home, a 3-0 defeat by local rivals Sunderland.

Instead, his side capitulated against a Liverpool team for whom the build-up to the match had been completely overshadowed by the punishment handed down to Suárez for biting Branislav Ivanovic.

"We need a win from one of our two remaining away games," said Pardew. "You can't come off a defeat like that and the manner of it and not be worried. I'm not going to criticise the players individually. Collectively we fell short."

Asked about the way his team capitulated he continued: "When you're not playing well and 3-0 down, it was a lot for some of the inexperienced players to cope with. I believe I can get enough out of this team to keep them up and that process starts on Monday. I will carry on and fight through this. We haven't suddenly became a bad coaching staff."

Pardew is unlikely to leave Tyneside before the end of the season but even if he succeeds in leading Newcastle to safety – they currently hold a five-point cushion over Wigan – the impact of the losses against Sunderland and Liverpool is likely to see Newcastle's owners review his position in the summer.

For Liverpool, the victory was an emphatic end to a turbulent week. Daniel Sturridge started in place of Suárez and scored twice, as did former Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson; Daniel Agger and Fabio Borini scored the other goals while Newcastle had Mathieu Debuchy sent off for two yellow cards.

Elsewhere, a mob of Wolves fans invaded the Molineux pitch and attacked club stewards and the home dugout after defeat by Burnley left them on the brink of relegation to League One.

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson only in a league of his own - The Guardian (blog)

It absolutely was Bill Shankly who said soccer is really a easy game that people could be well advised to not make complicated and probably in that spirit Sir Alex Ferguson has just unveiled the trick of his extraordinary success. "At a team like Manchester United there is a hope to live up to," Ferguson said. "You really need to get all the full time and that is all there is to it." Ferguson has applied that strategy therefore effectively that by rights the guard of honor at the Emirates on Sunday should be solely for his advantage since, with 13 English titles to his name, the United director has only equalled Arsenal's all-time cart, amassed over nine years dating back to to Herbert Chapman and like the not inconsiderable advantages of ArsAne Wenger and George Graham. As Arsenal are the third most successful club in English category record, with only Manchester United and Liverpool put above them, that bare reality alone stands as a to the unprecedented level of what Ferguson has accomplished. A number of the most lauded and respected professionals in the game have finished on the surface of the heap on only two or three occasions a Shankly, Brian Clough and Bill Nicholson, to select three greatly iconic numbers, handled six games between them a' while Ferguson long ago moved from the darkness of his nearest modern challengers in Bob Paisley (six) and Matt Busby (five). It's hard to think now but, when Ferguson arrived at Old Trafford in 1986, these five Busby titles formed the bulk of United's fairly puny total of seven league championships. Liverpool's complete 27 years ago stood at 16 and could rise to 18 before United may begin the knocking-off-the-perch exercise, however once that process was under way yet another sign of its thoroughness is that the Anfield history has remained unchanged, a guess set in the upper strata of pre-Premier League stone. At danger of causing more pain than is strictly necessary to the Merseyside end of the great north-west competition, it ought to be recognized that were Ferguson a slightly younger man he could soon be looking at bringing in Liverpool's all-time record in the identical way as he's managed to match Arsenal's. At his current rate of accumulation another decade might be taken only by it. That, one trusts, is fantasy, yet for one director to accomplish in just over two decades what the country's top groups have loaded up in more than a century of existence is in the areas of the significantly unbelievable. His achievements are more remarkable to take place against a backdrop of big financial skepticism at home, with the Glazer takeover loading the club with barely manageable amounts of debt, at an occasion when rivals such as Chelsea and Manchester City were making large strides through finding backers of amazing wealth. Nobody could say English football has been uncompetitive during Ferguson's leadership, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all achieving European Cup finals and the neighbours becoming loud for initially in 40-odd years, although what seems to have worked in United's favor is the top-four situation, where pretty much the exact same groups challenge for the elite places each season and at least two wind up dropping out of the title race to focus on securing their Champions League position. What United do nowadays to gain their games is not wait until the 96th minute to report successful against Sheffield Wednesday, or lower Kevin Keegan to a wreck on live tv, but establish their major competitors, fit them up and play the long game. Ferguson's own longevity has made them adept at that. It is possible that JosA Mourinho would have given him more of a work for his money by remaining a few more times at Chelsea, though it is essential to remember that United had already re-established themselves as winners by getting down to a flying begin in the 2006-07 period and were section of the reason the pressure developed at Stamford Bridge a few months later. That three-year break in the centre of the final decade is the longest United have had to await a Premier League prize, which is one reason Ferguson is seldom said to be under pressure from supporters. He has had his critics from time to time and even been accused of losing the story but he has yet to reduce his eye for a player or his appetite for success. Introducing a group title to the board every other period approximately tends to block out dissenting voices, not to mention appealing to the inner daughter or son of move targets such as for example Robin van Persie. It may be a freedom unusual in a single who has spent nearly all of his working career being proved spectacularly right, when there is a secret, apart from the distinctive adventure of get a handle on he has created around himself. Nevertheless he does not feel he has seen everything, refuses to become set in his methods and is forever ready to learn. "You need to, your competition is much more dangerous now," Ferguson said. "I think what's important is to keep looking forward instead of looking back." The United director mightn't have placed herself in line for any talent-spotting honors by signing Van Persie to create the difference this year, although dramatically what he did do was break his or her own tip about the preferred age of inward participants, pay a significant amount of cash to a major competitor for a 29-year-old with an archive of accidents and not give two hoots what effect the newest acquisition might have on Wayne Rooney. Something had a need to change, so Ferguson changed it and adapted. Not every manager might have done the same however the whole point about Ferguson is that he isn't just any old manager. He is old okay but nevertheless striking and probably getting bigger. He could keep this show on the road for a serious while yet. Arsenal v Manchester United, 4pm SS1

Curry leads Warriors past Nuggets in Game 3

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Stephen Curry played through a sprained left ankle to score 29 points and the Golden State Warriors beat the Denver Nuggets 110-108 on Friday night to take a 2-1 series lead.

Curry also had 11 assists, Jarrett Jack added 23 points and seven assists, and Harrison Barnes and Carl Landry each scored 19 points to help the Warriors rally from 13 points down in the third quarter. Golden State still had to sweat out Andre Iguodala's missed 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded, setting off a gold-confetti celebration throughout the announced sellout crowd of 19,596.

Ty Lawson had a career playoff-high 35 points to go with 10 assists, and reserve Corey Brewer scored 16 points as Denver dropped its second straight game — and its grip on the best-of-seven series.

Curry crossed over Kenneth Faried, then dropped in a high-arching lefty floater. Curry added another on the next possession — only with his right hand, and this time hitting almost all net to keep the Warriors up four.

Faried, who finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, followed with a reverse layup. Then Barnes hit a difficult pull-up jumper to put the Warriors in front 104-100.

A few players later, Curry stole the ball from Andre Miller from behind and then nearly dropped in another floater as Wilson Chandler fouled him. Curry's free throws gave Golden State a 108-102 lead with 1:54 remaining.

After Denver called timeout, Lawson's layup over Draymond Green started a three-point play. Denver got a stop before Lawson's potential-tying 3-pointer hit the front iron and Curry corralled the rebound — but then missed a layup on the other end.

Iguodala got caught in the air trying to make a pass, Jack batted it away and hit 1 of 2 free throws for a 109-105 lead with 21.5 seconds to play. Chandler stunned the crowd with a quick 3 from the corner, the Nuggets covered Curry on the ensuing inbound and Jack was called for a rare 5-second violation.

Klay Thompson and backup center Festus Ezeli trapped Lawson off a pick-and-roll, and Lawson dribbled the ball off his leg and out of bounds under heavy pressure. Officials confirmed the play with a video review.

After Barnes made just the second free throw, Denver inbounded the ball to Iguodala. He took a few dribbles and heaved a shot from around half-court, hitting the front iron and letting the home fans exhale.

Golden State followed up its 64.6 percent shooting performance — the highest in an NBA playoff game in 22 years — during its 131-117 win at Denver on Tuesday night with another gem befitting the Bay Area's basketball party.

The Warriors outshot the Nuggets 52.5 to 46.5 percent and won the rebounding battle for the third straight game, 42-34.

Ushers and parking lot attendants greeted fans with "welcome to the playoffs." Almost every fan wore a gold shirt read "We are Warriors" on the front, and the 33rd straight sellout that packed Oracle Arena often yelled so loud even players had a hard time hearing whistles.

Curry, who wore a large white brace around both ankles, made 8 of 17 shots and often provided reason to cheer in his first home playoff game. Warriors coach Mark Jackson said he didn't know if Curry had taken, or would take, a pain-killing injection as the guard suggested he might for the first time in his career.

Jackson stuck with his smaller lineup for the second straight game since David Lee went down with a season-ending tear of his right hip flexor. Guards Curry, Jack and Thompson started alongside small forward Barnes and center Andrew Bogut.

Nuggets coach George Karl countered with an even smaller lineup for Game 3: forward Faried started at center in place of struggling big man Kosta Koufos, Chandler was at power forward, Iguodala at small forward, Evan Fournier at shooting guard and Lawson at point guard.

The athletic Nuggets constantly swarmed Curry and Jack — or whoever dribbled off pick-and-rolls — with double teams as soon as they crossed midcourt, forcing Golden State into 23 total turnovers. Even with all the aggressiveness from both sides, the defensive nuances never slowed down the frenetic and flamboyant pace.

Every time Curry lined up to shoot, the crowd's collective inhale could be heard. The silence was usually followed by a remarkable roar — and until the final quarter, often by another avalanche of Denver offense.

After going down by 13 points in the third quarter, the Warriors answered with a 16-2 run capped by Curry's 3-pointer near Denver's bench. The shot gave Golden State a 74-73 lead and sent owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber jumping out of their courtside seats, screaming, clapping and motioning to the stands to shout even louder.

Denver center JaVale McGee and Bogut then exchanged words under the basket, a brief scrum broke out and officials sent both teams to their benches. Bogut received a technical foul, but he followed that up with a dunk over McGee that had the home fans chanting "Bogut! Bogut! Bogut!"

The Warriors outscored the Nuggets 33-18 in the third quarter. Curry even sat the final 2:21 of the quarter, and his team still held an 87-84 lead heading to the fourth.

NOTES: Jack was called for a technical foul in the first quarter after saying something toward an official when he made a contested layup. ... McGee grabbed his right shoulder when he was fouled in the first quarter. He grimaced in pain for several minutes but stayed in the game after a timeout. He air-balled the first free throw and clanked the second.

We'd to protect, and even if it was 1-1, they certainly were around. They were always behind us. aFair play to them at the end. aThe lads set a great shift in a' we defended so well.a Taylor is quite much one of many senior figures these days at United and after remaining at the club in 2009 subsequent relegation, he believes he is stronger because of it. Pardew will continue steadily to lean heavily on Geordie assistant boss John Carver and first-team instructor Steve Stone with the senior people. The Newcastle boss previously had Sunderland-born former United midfielder Kevin Dillon on his staff at Reading and has respect for another ex-colleague in Bradford City boss Phil Parkinson. But this kind of visit isnat estimated and it absolutely was only last time that Pardew described Carver as athe best signing head madea at Newcastle. Carver retains an incredible relationship with Toon supporters, as well as him being the main link between the present Newcastle set-up and that of Sir Bobby Robson.

Chelsea Hamilton Academical a' Andre Schurrle Deal Depends upon Kevin de Bruyne - Sportige

While the element of Kevin de Bruyne in the offer remains to be identified, equally Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen want to complete their problem with Andre Schurrle, who almost certainly will end up a Blues person in the next few days, if everythingAprogressesAaccording to program. Schurrle, 22, has scored 18 goals in 61 fits during the last handful of time. Along one of the top growing talents in European football and with Mario Gotze and Marco Reus, many consider him since the future of German football. He can perform as a, but heas mostly positioned on the left side. The Leverkusen steel has flown to London so that you can seal the offer. Schurrleas agent is quite confident that by the conclusion of the weekend, heall have legally become a Chelsea person. He must certanly be costing anywhere betweenAA20-25 million, but Leverkusen also want De Bruyne included in the deal, in a loan. The 21-year old Belgian footballer has been impressing this year with Werder Bremen, scoring six goals and adding nine assists. Among the problems keeping the deal is him a' he needs a long term deal from his next club, not merely to be on loan, experiencing his likelihood of locating a spot in the Chelsea group arenat that good. Borussia Dortmund may also be enthusiastic about signing him on something moreApermanent, which can mean Chelsea could have to cover more for Schurrle. Chelsea already signed a German winger last period a' Marko Marin. He missed quite a bit of time earlier on due to a personal injury, but has only performed in six matches, most of them off the counter, because finding complete health. Rafa Benitez only doesnat have confidence in a person many thought wouldnat get too y chances to person anyway. Schurrle is way better than Marin, and his price alone will ensure he gets more than several cameos off the table there and here. Barrett Smith Scouting Report: NFL Prospect for Alabama OG

Barrett Jones, a All-SEC lineman and 2011AOutlandATrophy-winner, is amongst the most-decorated linemen in college football history. During his four years at Alabama, he began 39 games and left a legacy that potential Crimson Tide linemen may try to live up to for years to come. Despite his status on the list of all-time greats in the school game, Jones is an whose success at the next stage is far from guaranteed. Talents Jackson' greatest asset is his flexibility. All through his occupation at Alabama, he made 10 at left tackle, 25 begins at guard and 14 at heart. As a star at any one of these positions in the NFL while he does not project, teams really like offensive linemen who is able to perform multiple positions. The kind of versatility that Jones has shown could bump him up at least the full round from where he would be projected centered on his skill set at anyone spot. Disadvantages Smith isn't likely to win any battles based on his raw physical tools. He lacks the power to overcome anybody and you will see certainAmatchupsAin which he needs help at the following stage, particularly being an interior lineman. Even though that he is as theoretically audio as any collegiate lineman, his physical limits are difficult to ignore. He's a reasonably low ceiling and he is already pretty near to reaching it. Methods At 6'5" Jones is tall for an inside lineman. More guards and centers have joined the group at Jones' size recently, but to do this requires the capacity to remain low and play with power. Smith shows this potential in bursts, but he's unpredictable. At being an interior lineman this stage of his profession, his level is unquestionably working against him. His general athleticism isn't such a thing special both, but the job is got by him done. When asked to draw or when he needs to get to the second level of the safety, he extends to his location quickly and efficiently. Overall, Jones' methods are common throughout the board. His power and athleticism are not remarkably impressive and battles are rarely won by him based exclusively on his natural ability. Intangibles/Character/Injury Problems As he demonstrated throughout his career at Alabama, Jackson is the supreme teammate. His willingness to change jobs showed that he will usually set the staff firsta'especially when he gave up theAglamorousAleft tackle job to change inside to center. Away from the field, Jones rates among the most accomplished people in this year's draft and was awarded the 2012 William V. Campbell honor, directed at the nation's top student-athlete in baseball. Despite making 39 job starts, Jones includes a relatively comprehensive history of injuries. Smith is coming off an injury sustained in the SEC Championship Game. Ligaments had been torn by him in his foot, which limited his ability to exercise just before theABCSANational Championship Game, even though he did play with the damage against Notre Dame. As a, Jones missed the last two games of the standard season with a top ankle sprain. Jackson' true newcomer period was cut short after three games due to a shoulder injury. Four more years he received a medical redshirt and returned to play. Process Due to his flexibility, Jones may play in just about any process. The only real situation by which he may not be seen by a team as a good fit could be if the team were seeking to add a power-interior run-blocker. The job is got by jones done, but he's not open holes will be consistently blown by a mauler who in the defensive line. Pass-Blocking Smith is a bend-but-don't-break lineman in cross protection. Seldom does he complete a man down, and yet he somehow manages to have the work done on a regular basis. He appears to possess outstanding lower-body strength allowing him to re-anchor and recover when he's been beat off the click. There are times when a bull rushing defender can demonstrably get an hand on him, but Jones manages to carry his ground despite losing the power battle. Run-Blocking Jones may open holes in the function game, when he's able to initiate the connection with the defensive lineman. Nevertheless, there are times when he simply lacks the quickness off the snap and when he loses the original challenge, he get can pushed around. He's enough athleticism to make the journey to the second stage, but the agility is lacked by him to rapidly adjust to block in space. He's at his most readily useful when straight away involved off the snap, and problems to really make the quick changes to put himself constantly in place to engage with a linebacker downfield. Blocking In Space/Recovery This is one of many major weaknesses in Jones' sport. He is capable of getting down the field, but until he draws a by surprise, he doesn't win many battles at the second level. The lateral movement is simply lacked by jones to include linebackers who possess outstanding foot quickness and over all athleticism. Hand-fighting/Technique Jackson survives despite minimal actual instruments because of his technique. He's rarely caught out of place, unless he is beaten off the click by a faster defensive lineman. When Jones has got the luxury of an additional or two to fall back and get emerge his move protection, he continually displays proper footwork and maintains his balance. The only time Jones' fundamentals break up is when a defender beats him off the snap. If he is forced to activate before his feet are set by him, Jones usually loses his ability to play with leverage. In these scenarios, he Aoften plays from his ability is hindered by a more-upright position, which to maintain his ground. Potential Role/Versatility Although he fits best at guard Smith can play center, guard and sometimes even correct tackle in the NFL. At right handle, Jones' lack of foot speed will make him prone to faster edge-rushers and he'll be considered a obligation in cross defense. Jackson can definitely play heart, but it is preferable to have a somewhat better athlete at the position. Johnson lacks the intense athleticism to snap the ball and maneuver in to position, particularly in pass protection. As there will be occasions when he only gets broken off the distinct scrimmage by a principal interior pass-rusher in the NFL, a result. But, at guard Jones has an extra half-second to put herself, increasing his power to handle bull-rushers inside.
