ITHACA, N.Y. — The 2013 women's soccer was released today by first-year head coach Patrick Farmer. The slate features a total of 16 games, with eight games scheduled for the team's home facility of Charles F. Berman Field — including a five-match home stand in September. Cornell opens its season on the road on Friday, Sept. 6 under the lights at Sacred Heart. The Pioneers were 9-9-1 last season, including a victory against the Big Red at Berman Field, before a season-ending loss to Saint Francis (Pa.) in the Northeast Conference semifinals. The Big Red then returns home for its home debut at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8 against regional rival Colgate in a hotly contested series that has the Raiders carrying a narrow 16-15-3 lead. Cornell and Colgate have played each other every year since the Big Red added women's soccer as a varsity sport in 1982. The Raiders are the defending Patriot League champions after posting a 11-6-4 record last season. After visiting Buffalo on Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Big Red returns home for five in a row at Berman Field. A visit from MAAC regular-season champion Marist kicks off the weekend at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, then Cornell will play host to Albany at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15. Another regional rival stops into town on Wednesday, Sept. 18 when Binghamton visits. The Bearcats are graduating a program-high 12 after posting an even 8-8-1 record in 2012. Cornell and Binghamton are tied, 2-2-2, in the all-time series. Up next will be the first-ever meeting between Cornell and New Jersey Institute of Technology at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22. The Highlanders were 4-13-3 last season and finished third in the Great West Conference. Two of those matches were against Ivy League schools — Dartmouth and Columbia. The start of Ivy League play will also mark the end of the home stand at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, when Columbia descends on Berman. The Big Red then returns to nonleague play two days later with a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday, Sept. 29 on the artificial playing surface at Fordham. The Big Red and Rams have played just once before — a 4-3 overtime victory for host Fordham in 2011. Cornell heads to the Mid-Atlantic region the following weekend, starting with an Ivy League tilt on Friday, Oct. 4 at Penn and concluding with a 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6 date at Delaware State. It will be the Big Red's first visit to Dover, Del., with the programs' only other meeting coming in the form of a 7-0 Big Red victory on Sept. 5, 2011 at Berman Field. Returning home and to league play, Cornell will take on 2011 champion Harvard at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Big Red was the only Ivy team to take a point off the Crimson in 2011 in the form of a 2-2 tie, then Cornell earned a 1-1 draw in 2012 at Harvard Stadium. Cornell will then play three of its final four games on the road, starting on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Yale. Brown will once again be the opposition for the Big Red's Senior Day at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, then the Big Red will close out the regular season at defending Ivy League champion Princeton at on Saturday, Nov. 2 and Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 9.
