Manchester City must not repeat last summer's problems a Roberto Mancini - The Guardian

Roberto Mancini has informed that Manchester City's chances of success in the Premier League and Champions League next year depend on not repeating the errors of last summer's recruitment drive. He thinks it is "impossible" to sell people before purchasing, as was the plan, with Mancini directing to Bayern Munich, who after acquiring the Bundesliga have consented to purchase Borussia Dortmund's Mario GAtze. Within the last close time Mancini missed from his five first-choice goals of Robin van Persie, Eden Hazard, Javi MartAnez, Daniele De Rossi and Daniel Agger, and was forced to stay for Jack Rodwell, Scott Sinclair, Matija Nastasic, Javi GarcAa and Maicon. Nastasic aside, all have struggled to establish themselves in the Italian's group, and Mancini prompted the Town hierarchy, which is led by Ferran Soriano, the principle executive, and Txiki Begiristain, the manager of basketball, to behave swiftly come early july. "It is very important that people perform well," said Mancini. "From today to August 30 [the close of the exchange window], we [must] work very well and not like a year ago. Maybe we can do better because for two years we worked well, we'd our targets and our targets were got by us. 36 months before we desired to reach the Champions League and we won the FA Cup and got the Champions League. A year ago we wanted to fight for the title and we won the title. We did not work very well this year but this has not been a bad season and, if we win the FA Cup, it is a good season. It is perhaps not important only to work well on the frequency, it's important you begin to work well." Mancini, asked if securing his primary objectives was the important factor for success next season, said: "Yes. It's important to not produce a mistake on new people. We have to do everything well." Has the board learned from last summer? "We are people and we could make mistakes," said the boss. "No one desires to make mistakes however it sometimes happens. It's important that we know last year we did not work well and I really hope that this year we can improve this. We have an excellent relationship with this. We've talked about the group on a regular basis that we can talk about the near future, the participants, but it is important that we work well." Regarding the technique of attempting to sell before buying, Mancini said: "This is impossible. Like you saw within the last few week at Bayern Munich [taking GAtze] a' the very best team in this time with Borussia. I have read that BarAa need six players a' BarAa! We need to add to our team." Bayern have criticised City because of their lavish-spending method of developing a successful club. However despite Bayern agreeing to spend the A32m buy-out clause to acquire GAtze and their interest in taking still another of Dortmund's best people, Robert Lewandoski, Mancini refused to go back this complaint. "It isn't crucial. In football it's good because all individuals asked how it's possible that City don't win the name after spending plenty of money," he said. "There are other teams that spend more than us but this is football." Mancini also praised the strategy of Manchester United in using the name from City. "They have a much better attitude," said the director. "We have to improve our perspective in certain games and continue to work because ultimately if we get second and we are in the FA Cup final, that is not a bad season." For Saturday's visit of West Ham United Mancini needs a stern challenge. "It will be hard, they're a team. [Andy] Carroll is just a strong striker," he said.
