'Old Trafford will inspire Ronaldo when Real visit United,' warns Beckham - Daily Mail

David Beckham expects Cristiano Ronaldo to be at his best when he returns to Old Trafford with Real Madrid on Tuesday.

The Spanish champions travel to Manchester United for the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie and Beckham, who was replaced by Ronaldo at United and eventually in Madrid, believes the atmosphere will inspire the Portuguese on his first appearance at the club since his 2009 departure.

'When you go back, you enjoy the occasion, of course, and I am sure it will inspire Cristiano,' said Beckham, who first played against United when with AC Milan in 2010, seven years after leaving.

It took Ronaldo only 10 minutes to equalise after Danny Welbeck had given United the lead in the first leg match at the Bernabeu that ended 1-1.

And although he is happy to predict the Portuguese will impress, Beckham cannot see a clear favourite regarding who will advance to the next round.

'United did very well at the Bernabeu and I am sure they will do very well at Old Trafford,' said Beckham, who also revealed his contract with Paris Saint-Germain is not certain to expire at the season's end.
