Wayne Rooney Has Shot at Redemption with Britain Against Montenegro

Wayne Rooney will have his chance at global redemption, but it won't come easya'or without provocation. England and Rooney are set to play Montenegro Tuesday in Podgorica as their quest is continued by the Three Lions to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. For Rooney, but, more are at risk. The last time Rooney and England played in Podgorica, Rooney was sent down for a late end at Montenegro's Miodrag Dzudovic within an October 2011 fit. Britain salvaged a 2-2 sketch and qualified for Euro 2012, but Rooney's history lingered on. Rooney, whose father had been arrested fleetingly before the fit in terms of betting problems (via BBC Sport), drewAa three-match UEFA ban, which was later reduced to two games. Those two games happened ahead at Euro 2012, where England's problem finished in the quarterfinals against Italy. The incident and its aftermath brought back into question Rooney's capability to get a handle on herself in pressure-packed and essential circumstances. In the 2006 World Cup, Rooney was sent down for a on Portugal's Ricardo Carvalho as Cristiano Ronaldo famously enjoyed his own part in his then-teammate's dismissal with a wink. Not exactly eight years after Portugal and 17 months after Podgorica, Rooney includes a chance to make the latter right. Almost through qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, Montenegro cause Group H with 13 items, two in front of England. Both clubs have five fits remaining. The group winners qualify immediately for the Entire World Cup. That produces Tuesday's fit important, and Rooney is one person on everybody's mind. "There isn't any question that Wayne Rooney is among the most useful strikers in the world but we all know from the final time England played here that he can often play with a warm head," said Montenegro chief Mirko Vucinic (via theADaily Telegraph). That does not quite amount to an admission that Montenegro will attempt to end up Rooney, but it comes close. Regardless of how these terms are translated, though, it is obvious Rooney will be a important person for Montenegro on Tuesday. Vucinic added: "He is a good player however it has been proved over time as you are able to get a reaction out of him. England would have no chance with 10 men and Iam positive their instructor will undoubtedly be telling them that." England director Roy Hodgson, meanwhile, said he thinks Rooney has aged. The figures appear to back that opinion: Rooney received only one yellow card in the Premier League last season, and even though he's driven six yellows this campaign, he has perhaps not been sent off this season or last (via EPL Index). "Wayne's enjoyed so many games, he isAso experienced, I am sure he is capable of writing off the incident," Roy Hodgson explained per The Guardian. "He is paid his price. I'd like to think he had forget allAabout it." Maybe Rooney has not forgotten about it. In their own terms, Rooney has suggested that he is learned from his mistake. "I did not think: 'Right, I'm planning to kick this person.' It really happened," Rooney mentioned last summer at Euro 2012 (per The Guardian). "I understood immediately it had been a mistake." With that conclusion at hand, Rooney's experience and goalscoring capacity could combine to deadly effect for England.
