Terrence Brown Scouting Report: NFL Outlook for Stanford CB

When Stanford cornerback Terrence Brown announced himself as an entrant for the 2013 NFL draft, foregoing his redshirt-senior time, it could have now been viewed as a curious choice. However, he will be hope to take his underrated measurables to another location level and will graduating with a in technology and science this June. Brown is predicted as a late-round pick at most useful, but is more of a candidate to be a goal free agent following the draft is over. He is not the sole Stanford defensive back to get marked with the late-round judgment in recent years, as Delano Howell and (perhaps especially) Richard Sherman have gone onto NFL achievement in some form. He will look to become the next such player to find similar accomplishments. Strengths The ability have been shown by a two-year starter with the Cardinal, Brown to make plays as a cover place. He's an extended body at 6 a1a and enough explosiveness with a vertical jump (based on gostanford.com) to compete with larger receivers at the next level. Brown is extremely wise when he must when it comes to diagnosing matchups at the distinct scrimmage and will keep his nose around the backfield. Flaws Although Brown has a lengthy body, he has not yet grown involved with it. He is shown at 178 pounds based on the schoolas running website, so he'd need to bulk up to see regular play in the NFL. He also struggles to bring down bigger devices when harmonized in man, which he generally played at Stanford. Brown has pretty good final speed, but he is perhaps not athletic enough once he's been overcome to get faster receivers. He did not have a time for the 40-yard dash this offseason; Stanford Pro Day results didn't list a for Brown for the big event. Instruments Brown includes the peak that clubs are looking for with the ever-growing large receivers at the NFL level, but he still has to include at least 10-15 pounds in muscle during the offseason. Brown did compete in the 60-yard taxi, where he placed a 11.41 2nd time. Intangibles A Stanford education helps in this category, Stanford being the leading academic institutions in the country. In a regarding his draft report, Brown called his entrance to Stanford aa life-changing event.a Brown was a leader for the Cardinal safety and one of only two entrepreneurs to leave for the draft. System Man was mostly played by brown at Stanford, but he'll probably need certainly to go inside as a result of his insufficient speed and strength. Playing the Ball The former Cardinal part hasn't made a lot of turnovers, but he did lead the group in pass deflections as a senior with nine. He finished with 14 pass deflections during a three-year career. Brown has the explosiveness to attain balls placed high, but hasn't found consistent enough arms to bring down an interception. He'd two career interceptions at Stanford. From the Run Brown is much better in pass defense than run defense. He was seldom contacted ahead around support, but he did have four tackles for losses throughout his Stanford profession. Brown doesn't do a good job of containing swift backs that reversal outside of the tackles and will frequently get taken out of the play on a block. Guy Stanford enjoyed person nearly exclusively under instructors David Shaw and Jim Harbaugh while Brown was a player there. He can stay with his man as long as they have the same relative speed, but he gets removed from plays too often. Brown was tasked with Justin Blackmon through the 2012 Fiesta Bowl and was not able to remain with him on a good part of throws in his course. Region Brown saw very little zone at Stanford, but could move nicely in to a slot corner in a in the NFL. Clubs may see him as degree on the exterior due to his height, but he is not strong enough to include prime devices. But he's smart enough to be able to make a play on a study, which could make him an excellent sector part. Fixing He's an able tackler, but not an audio tackler. Shiftier receivers or running backs have the ability to put out of Brownas arms with relative ease. Good angles does not be always taken by him on quick throws in the flat, allowing the device to make it to the next amount of the protection after missed fights by Brown. Brown was involved with lots of agang tacklesa in the great outdoors area but fought to have larger people down by himself. Strategy Brown is a not to fast and little bit hard in backpedaling out of his break. Good course runners at the following level will have the ability to make the most of this quality. The aforementioned bad aspects may also harm Brown if he's expected to press receivers at the line of scrimmage. Potential Role/Scheme Flexibility Brown will likely be only a detail player for a group, while which was said plenty about current Stanford defensive backs in the last few drafts. He has flexibility with techniques, having played man in school and possessing the expertise to understand zone effortlessly.
