A mother-of-two from West Bromwich has admitted fraudulently claiming benefits worth significantly more than A30,000. Mandeep Purewal, aged 33, had been receiving income assistance and council tax benefit on the basis of her being fully a single mother and no longer working. Instead Sandwell Magistratesa Court at Warley noticed her husband had came back to the household home and she had been doing three jobs. Mrs Maggie Meakin, defending, stated that Purewal had believed A30,361.54 while working for 80 Healthcare, Sportswift and Argos. She accepted four charges of mistakenly claiming income support and council tax benefit between January and July 2007 and a period in March 2008. Purewal, of Livingstone Road in West Bromwich, also accepted three charges of creating a statement regarding her condition in October and November of 2006 and June 2007. Purewalas defense attorney Mr Andrew Choudhary said his client had paid nearly A500 right back since she had been found. He added: aHer partner has properly deserted his family and only returns for cash. Over the years she has had to fend for herself. Magistrates shared with her she might be facing a prison sentence. She will appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court for sentencing on April 26 at 2pm. She was bailed unconditionally until then.
