Manchester United may have won the Premier League this season, but of the five times they played the Blues this season, it was Chelsea who came out on top.
Chelsea were victorious three times in three different competitions this season, and each victory was great and important in its own special way.
The first came in the Capital One Cup. Manchester United had just defeated the Blues in the League, and Chelsea were out for vengeance in the cup tie that took place just three days later. In the end, it was extra time goals from Daniel Sturridge and Ramires that were enough to send the Blues through to the next round.
The two teams met once more in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup. After fighting back from two goals down in the first leg, Chelsea took the tie back to Stamford Bridge and came out on top thanks to a spectacular goal from Demba Ba.
The most recent victory was perhaps the most important of all, all things considered. A late, deflected Juan Mata strike meant that Chelsea remained the best-placed team to qualify for the Champions League next season.
