Shipley played in 17 games last season together with the Colts, getting five starts. He played a key role while on an offensive line that is often decimated by personal injuries. He participated on specialized teams for Indianapolis in the AFC wild-card game around Baltimore last season.
But Shipley became expendable after the Colts selected Khaled Holmes, a center and preserve from Southern California with the fourth round of past month's draft — section of Indy's revamped offense line that has added four new members through free agency plus the draft.
The 6-foot-1, 309-pound Shipley was selected inside seventh round of the 2009 draft by Pittsburgh. He was an associate of the Steelers' practice squad just last year and on Philadelphia's practice squad this season before signing with Indianapolis in 2012.
