Premier League: QPR v Newcastle United match preview - The Independent

Newcastlewill take a giant step towards safety on Sunday if they can pick up threepoints against already relegated QPR at Loftus Road.

After Wigan lost their game in hand 3-2 at home to Swansea, the Magpies were able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that their Premier League safety is now in their own hands. QPR can take confidence going into this game knowing Newcastle have the joint worst away record in the Premier League alongside Norwich.

Loic Remy will be a man under the spotlight after he dramatically turned down a move to St.James's Park in January, following a last minute intervention by Harry Redknapp and chairman Tony Fernandes who persuaded him to move to the capital.

Alan Pardew will be hoping that Remy doesn't come back to haunt his squad, as he continues to push Newcastle towards safety, despite all the increasing speculation regarding his future.

On 2 May 2009, Peter Lovenkrands scored the only goal at Loftus Road, as Newcastle passed the 100 points mark on the final game of the season of the Championship season and crowned their season in style.
