Determined by official reports, including usually the one from New York Knicks reporter Tina Cervasio, J. M. Smith was a game-time decision with the Knicks' Game 3 tilt resistant to the Indiana Pacers as a result of 102-degree fever that kept him out of morning shootaround.
Instead of taking of which explanation at face valuation, just about everyone with a Twitter account lined close to make some much more entertaining guesses for the source of Smith's strange malady. Considering that the league's Sixth Man for the Year has been helping to make headlines lately for hitting the clubs with Rihanna, there was plenty of material to employ.
There were also some other opinions that focused on what downright ineffective Smith has been during the postseason. Nobody mentioned that she was shooting just 34 percent coming into Game 3, but perhaps, Twitter's not exactly the place to go for trenchant study.
Whatever the cause of Smith's discomfort, he clearly wasn't in much of a state to work. He came out quickly after one or two ho-hum minutes in the initial quarter and slumped into his seat in the bench, well away coming from his teammates.
Some observers took the means to show concern for the other players and incapacitated that might have been liable to catching whatever Smith had—medically impossible as it can seem.
Credit the reserve gunner for trying to give it a try, and for even time for the game after shopping like he was concerning death's door in his initial stint. And with regard to what it's worth, he retained several of his trademark head-scratching style amid his illness.
In fact, Smith's evening ended ahead of time. Although, with the Knicks trailing simply by double digits and displaying no signs of helping you out with Indiana's defense, the game was all but over when he exited within the fourth quarter.
If Smith really is actually sick—and it seems only fair to look at what the team says as the truth—it's still his fault to generate the off-court decisions this open him up to such jabs.
It's just too bad Smith's jumper has not been as on the mark as a portion of the better pot shots he's got been receiving via social media.
