Miami's Larranaga AP Coach of the Year

ATLANTA (AP) a Jim Larranaga, who light emitting diode Miami to the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season and tournament titles and a No. 2 ranking, has been chosen The Associated Press' instructor of the season. Larranaga acquired 29 votes Thursday from the same 65-member national press screen that chooses the regular Top 25. Rick Crews of Saint Louis got 19 votes and Mark Number of Gonzaga had 11. Sunday the voting concluded on Selection. The 63-year-old, two-time-hip-replacement patient had a 29-7 history in his second season with the Hurricanes and they certainly were made a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament. He's the first Miami coach to get the prize and may be the first Atlantic Coast Conference coach to have it since Roy Williams of North Carolina in 2006. The Brand New York native led George Mason to the Final Four in 2006.
